Coke and their water problems

Today, Coca-Cola is the most popular soft drink in the world. However it has always had its fair share of problems throughout its history. Its water woes are a dark secret. It takes 0.71 gallons of water to make 0.26 gallons of Coca-Cola. This becomes a problem when Coca-Cola decides to set up bottling factories in water stressed regions. In such regions when Coca-Cola sets up a bottling plant, they use up too much ground water, causing a fall in the water table and a shortage of drinking water and irrigation water supply. Examples of where this has happened are in several states in India, and several places in Latin America. After a decade of protesting, one plant in India was shut down in 2015, but Coca-Cola plants using up too much local water is still a problem in India, Latin America, and in developing countries around the world.
